Tapes for Learning Spanish - Spanish: Level 1 (Learn in Your Car); Henry N. Raymond
Henry N. Raymond's Spanish Level 1 audiobook has been around for years now, and has regularly featured as one of Amazon's bestselling language learning resources. The step-by-step approach that starts with individual words and builds them out into related phrases that are likely to be of use to the traveller is thoroughly worthwhile. One possible downside is that the Spanish featured is Latin American - which may, of course, come in handy for anyone moving on from a language course in Castile and Leon taking Spanish class and travelling through the continent!

Tapes for Learning Spanish - Puerta del Sol: Champs-Elysees Audio Magazines
As the name suggests, Puerta del Sol (from Champs-Elysees Audio Magazines) puts the emphasis firmly on a day-to-day setting and wraps the Spanish featured around a series of interesting scenarios and subject matters. Not a beginner's tape for learning Spanish, it's useful for intermediate students looking to get some sort of grasp on both the Spanish spoken in Spain and across Latin America.

Tapes for Learning Spanish - Spanish for Beginners; Angela Wilkes
Another perennial Amazon favourite, Angela Wilkes's Spanish for Beginners is an excellent grass roots introduction to the language. The tone is light and engaging throughout, and the learning experience is never allowed to get dry or dull. In addition to the tapes, there's also an excellent supporting book (with some entertaining illustrations).
